Smart little Nanay brought her kittens to the home of a kind person.  This person tried to find homes for them to no avail and asked for help from Sheltering Hands.   Nanay is generally an easy going independent girl but can be cautious in situations she does not know.  She likes to be held and loved on.  She is afraid of storms and other loud noises (who knows what happened to her when she was out there on her own). Nanay tested positive for FIV which is an autoimmune disease but as it turns out most FIV+ cats live long healthy lives.  There's a lot of misinformation about FIV because for years it was thought it was a death sentence and highly contagious.  Neither of which is true.  You can check out more about cats and FIV here https://www.shelteringhands.org/info/file?file=26205.pdf. Foster Update:   Nanay says "Social Distance?  What's that?".  She is adjusting to her foster situation very quickly.  Initially hid under the bed, but ALWAYS came out when her foster came into the room.  She loves curling up next to her foster caretaker on the bed and absolutely LOVES getting petted and adored.  - And she has turned out to be a bit of a lap cat, when her fosters lap is empty. Foster Update:  There have been quite a few storms this week.  Nanay hides under the bed, but if I lay on the floor and talk to her she will come out and let me pet and comfort her. The minute I get up she's back under the bed , but it's nice to know she can be comforted by a human presence close by.   She is such a sweet kitty, must have had a horrible experience during a storm, maybe trying to protect her babies. Volunteer Update: Nanay just spent the last 30 minutes in my lap. perfect little lap girl. Since Sheltering Hands home delivers each adopted cat, all adopters must live in the North Central Florida area.  Thank you for understanding. You can meet this wonderful kitty by appointment with an approved application.  Pre-adopt applications are available here:  www.shelteringhands.org/info/adoption   If you have additional questions you can email Sheltering Hands at adoptions@shelteringhands.org.
