Hi, I'm Brewster!

My story is incredible - so get ready!!!!

I was found by a person riding a bicycle in front of a local veterinarian’s office on a Sunday.  This very nice human saw me in a carrier and was concerned - thank goodness!  No one knows how long I was outside in the carrier without food or water.  Fortunately, they contacted Sheltering Hands and they were able to give me water, shelter and food.  After they took a look at me they found I needed surgery for a hernia, most likely caused another person.  It took me awhile to recover from the surgery and I have an issue with my mouth - but here I am!!!  Despite being treated cruelly by humans in the past I am ready to LOVE, CUDDLE and SNUGGLE the day away!

I may look like a rough and tumble cat, but I am a lover, not a fighter as they say...  I love to sit on your lap and appreciates every time you pet me. Some of the volunteers at Sheltering Hands call me a big teddy bear!  I love my head to be rubbed and, if you do it just right, I'll even drool in appreciation.  Come and meet me and let me show you how much love I can give to you!

NOTE:  Brewster is FIV positive, but as we now know, this does not prevent him from living a long healthy life.  FIV is NOT able to be transferred to any other cats in the home.  There's a lot of misinformation spread about FIV including it's a death sentence and highly contagious.  Neither of which is true.   You can check out more about cats and FIV here https://www.shelteringhands.org/info/file?file=26205.pdf.

Because of his painful jaw/mouth, he will most likely need to remain on a low cost pain management medicine.

Volunteer Update:    Brewster gets his pain meds in some canned food and when the time comes each day for him to get them, he waits by the door and even meows to make sure someone is getting them for him.   He's the easiest cat to medicate I've ever seen.

Since Sheltering Hands home delivers each adopted cat, all adopters must live in the North Central Florida area.  Thank you for understanding. You can meet this wonderful kitty by appointment with an approved application.  Pre-adopt applications are available here:  www.shelteringhands.org/info/adoption   If you have additional questions you can email Sheltering Hands at adoptions@shelteringhands.org.
