Hi I'm Cornell, I like to consider your lap "home base".  I will run around and play and then jump on your lap for a few minutes before I run off again.  I just like knowing your lap is there for me when I need it. I'll also take a perch on your shoulder if a lap is not available. I admit I'm a bit of a talker, you won't have to wonder when I want something to eat or want to be picked up and cuddle.
